April 2014 Diet Club

Posted by Jason

Here are the basic “rules” for our diet:

  • Three main meals per day
    • One protein (up to 200 grams of meat, soy, egg, etc)
    • One fruit (fresh fruit; try to avoid sticky, juicy sweet fruit like plums, grapes, mangoes, etc.) Berries are fine if less than 100 grams
    • As much green veggies as you want
  • Avoid carbohydrate and fat
  • Snacking should be limited to low-fat, low-carb options
  • Stevia should be used if a sweetener is wanted
  • 30-60 minutes of activity (in aggregate) per day
  • Drink lots of water
  • Post a blog update each day to show your food intake and activity

Tell us your goals! If you don’t write it and share it, it isn’t really a goal.

Maybe Jamie can take some nice before/after portraits to help motivate us. What do you think, sweetie?

  1. I weighed 208 this morning. My goal is to get to 198 in 2 wks. I feel that if I achieve this goal, I can continue a form of the diet to reach my ultimate goal of 165 lbs. Three years ago I was 245 lbs, but I got stuck at 200 and some weight crept back on. I hate to reveal what I weigh, but I feel I need to, in order to cement my intentions. Today I had 1/2 sausage patty for breakfast, 2 hardboiled eggs and 1 1/2 sausage patties for lunch, plus 1/2 of a lo-cal bar. At 4:30 I had the other half of the bar. Dinner was 2 cups of steamed asian vegetables and 2 chicken tenders. Now it is 10 pm, time for bed, and I think I’m going to make it. wuh. Tomorrow I will get some groceries that include apples, lettuce, etc. I will take the left over chicken for lunch. Dave had chicken tenders and a wonderful baked potato and peas for dinner. ngghhhhh. . ..

  3. Sounds good to me! I’ll bet you can do it!

This am I weighed in at 254. My goal is to reach 235 by the end if the two weeks. If I keep to the diet, I know I can do it. Ultimately I want to reach 200 or less. Maybe then my blood pressure and blood sugar will be “normal” and I can get off the meds! And, less weight and more fitness means less back pain!

My problem is that I have a rubber spine when it comes to snacks and treats! Reporting every day is going to help!

Besides my weight, I want to be more active. I’d like to play softball this summer and I want to ride with dad more often. And, if I can lose the weight, maybe I’ll be more comfortable on my motorcycle and I won’t need to beef up the shock to handle my weight!

2014 is going to be a great year for my health!
